Darryl Helton - Lead Vocals
Darryl started his musical journey at age 6 in the choral program of a large church in Charlotte NC. Elementary, Junior High and High School choirs are where he learned the basics that still serve him today.
He formed his first rock band while in High School. The band “Road Angel” played in several local clubs/bars even though most members were underage.
Darryl had a serious motorcycle accident at age 18 which kept him in the hospital or major therapy for the next 22 months. When his recovery was complete, he joined an existing Charlotte band named “Stratus” and toured the Southeast with them for the next 3 years. Summers were spent almost exclusively playing the Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach SC (Clubs & the Magic Attic).
After deciding to hang up his mic and settle down to a normal life, it took less than a year for the lure of the music to call him again. Back on the road for another 3 years with a new band, “The Breaks”. During his touring he shared the stage with many great acts like Three Dog Night, Mother’s Finest, Nantucket…
But Darryl finally took an extended leave from bands & touring when he learned his son (& then daughter) would be born. During his retirement from touring, he was “called” to use his talents as worship leader in a new church start-up in the Lake Wylie SC area. During his 7 years there, he would see God bless his willingness to serve, as the church grew from 50 to over 2,000 members.
The past several years have seen the desire to “Rock” rekindled in Darryl. “Settin’ Stone” and “Scandal” are bands he has recently fronted in the Charlotte area….. But after answering an ad and auditioning for Clockworx, he knew he had found exactly what he had been lookin for: Extreme Talent… Great Personalities… Comradery… and a dynamic selection of music. “Let’s Rock!!!”
